This might actually be the thinnest iPhone case in the world.

Only the Kevlar cases are just slightly thinner.

And honestly… THAT is exactly what worries me.

Because normally, phone cases follow one simple rule:

The thinner the case… the less protection you get.

But Torras claims that this ultra-thin case can still properly protect your iPhone.

So I decided to test exactly that — with a brand-new iPhone 17 Pro Max worth around €1450.

And honestly, even before the first drop, I already had a very bad feeling about this.

First Impressions of the Ultra-Thin Torras Case

This case is ridiculously thin.

At only 25 grams, you can barely even feel it on the iPhone. And honestly, that will probably be the biggest selling point for most people.

Unlike bulky rugged cases that make the iPhone feel huge, this one keeps the phone almost as slim as using it without a case at all.

Despite the ultra-thin design, the case still offers:

  • Full hard case construction
  • Camera and display protection
  • MagSafe support
  • Good clicky buttons
  • Compatibility with all screen protectors

For this test, I once again used the large edge-to-edge ROXX screen protector that fully covers the corners of the display.

The Biggest Problems With Ultra-Thin Cases

And unfortunately, this is where the typical problems of ultra-thin cases begin.

The Torras case has no soft inner lining and no integrated camera button.

It also immediately becomes obvious that the raised display protection is very limited.

That’s exactly why I already had the feeling before the drop test that this case was built more for scratch protection than real impact protection.

Of course, the ultra-thin design looks amazing. But protection and ultra-thin construction usually don’t work very well together.

The Real Concrete Drop Test

Now things got serious.

We dropped the iPhone 17 Pro Max with the Torras ultra-thin case three times onto concrete from 1.20 meters.

Once again, we also measured the impact force so we could compare the results with other cases later.

And honestly:

Even before the first drop, I already felt like I was about to destroy my iPhone.

The Results

  • 116 m/s
  • 139 m/s
  • 139 m/s

The average result was around 13.1G.

And those numbers clearly show that the case does not absorb heavy impacts particularly well.

The G-forces were significantly higher than with thicker protective cases like the UAG Monarch Pro.

The display was once again the biggest concern.

Without the large ROXX screen protector, the display would most likely have shattered after the very first drop.

Is an Ultra-Thin Case Actually Worth It?

Honestly, this test went almost exactly how I expected.

The Torras case looks fantastic.
It is incredibly thin.
And it barely adds any bulk to the iPhone.

But that also becomes its biggest weakness.

This case is mainly designed for scratches and minor everyday damage — not for serious drops onto concrete.

If aesthetics, low weight and keeping your iPhone as thin as possible matter more to you than maximum drop protection, you might still love this case.

But if real protection is your priority, you should probably choose a thicker protective case instead.

Because sometimes the old rule is still true:

The thinner the case… the more dangerous it becomes for your iPhone.
