Google Pixel 9 Pro XL – The 5 Best Cases Tested
Under each case, you’ll find the pros and cons, and of course, the link to Amazon, where I also bought my case.
Rank #1 & Test Winner | The Original Silicone Case for Google Pixel 9 Pro
The most expensive case in our test comes directly from Google: the silicone case. The material is very pleasant to the touch. Despite this, it’s a full hard case and even has a microfiber lining to prevent scratches. Display and camera protection are also integrated, and the buttons have a very good tactile feel. The cutouts are also well-positioned, and you can use all the screen protectors from my Pixel 9 Pro screen protector test.
Price-wise, it’s a big difference compared to the other cases, and you should know that the silicone gel material also has drawbacks. The case attracts more dust and dirt and doesn’t slide as easily into your pocket as others.
Price: $34.99
Pros:
- Excellent material
- Hard case
- Inner protection
- Display protection
- Camera protection
- Buttons with good feedback
- Cutouts are well placed
- Compatible with all Pixel 9 Pro XL screen protectors from my test
Cons:
- Expensive
- Attracts dust and dirt
- Doesn’t slide easily into pockets
Conclusion – Who is this case for?
We know this case from Samsung and Apple as well. The material feels great in hand, and the protection is perfect! A clear recommendation to buy.

Rank #2 | The Guardian Mag Case with MagSafe for Google Pixel 9 Pro
The Guardian Mag case from Torras for the Google Pixel 9 Pro comes with MagSafe. You can check out a MagSafe accessory overview if you’re not familiar with MagSafe. This case has a hard back and thicker rubber edges, offering very good protection. Display and camera protection are also included. Additionally, the buttons can be swapped for orange and neon green ones. The buttons also have a good tactile feel, and the cutouts for the speakers, etc., are well done. All screen protectors from my test are compatible.
The only downside here is the lack of inner protection, but since the case is semi-transparent, this wouldn’t have been possible.
Price: $23.99
Pros:
- With MagSafe
- Hard back
- Display protection
- Camera protection
- changeable buttons
- Buttons with good feedback
- Cutouts are well placed
- Compatible with all Pixel 9 Pro XL screen protectors from my test
Cons:
- No inner protection
Conclusion – Who is this case for?
The Torras case makes a very good impression, but it lacks inner protection. However, it comes with MagSafe.

Rank #3 | The Caseology Parallax Case for Google Pixel 9 Pro
The Pixel 9 Pro case from Caseology is also not too slippery and has a sort of inner protection. If a grain of sand gets inside, it’ll probably stay in the grooves. There’s also display and camera protection, and the buttons have good tactile feedback. The cutouts for the speakers, etc., are also well done, and you can use all Pixel 9 Pro screen protectors from my test. Plus, this case is relatively inexpensive.
Unfortunately, it’s not a hard case, just thick rubber, and the inner protection doesn’t match that of the original Google case.
Price: $18.99
Pros:
- Not too slippery
- Some kind of inner protection
- Display protection
- Camera protection
- Buttons with good feedback
- Cutouts are well placed
- Compatible with all Pixel 9 Pro XL screen protectors from my test
- Cheap
Cons:
- Not a hard case
- No real inner protection
Conclusion – Who is this case for?
The Caseology case makes a good impression and protects the Pixel 9 Pro well, and it’s cheap.

Rank #4 | The Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case with MagSafe for Google Pixel 9 Pro
The last case for the Google Pixel 9 Pro comes from Spigen and is called Ultra Hybrid. This case also comes with MagSafe, and the back is a hard case, with thicker rubber edges. Display and camera protection are included, and the buttons have good tactile feedback. The cutouts are well positioned, and all the Google Pixel 9 Pro screen protectors from my test are compatible with this case.
Something seems off with the MagSafe ring, as you can see in the video above. Perhaps it’s too weak. Again, there’s no inner protection in the form of microfiber, but with transparent cases, that’s not possible. It’s also worth mentioning that transparent cases tend to attract fingerprints. Some customers also don’t like that the Google logo isn’t centered in the MagSafe ring.
Price: $21.99
Pros:
- With MagSafe
- Hard back
- Display protection
- Camera protection
- Buttons with good feedback
- Cutouts are well placed
- Compatible with all Pixel 9 Pro XL screen protectors from my test
Cons:
- MagSafe magnets too weak?
- No inner protection
- Attracts fingerprints
- Google logo not centered
Conclusion – Who is this case for?
If you’re looking for a transparent case with MagSafe, this is a good option. However, the MagSafe ring on the Torras case is much better and stronger.

Rank 5 | The Ringke Onyx Case for Google Pixel 9 Pro
The Pixel 9 Pro case from Ringke has a rough material, making it less slippery. There is an integrated display and camera protection since the case is slightly raised. This way, the display or camera doesn’t directly touch the surface when placed down. The buttons have a good tactile feel, and the cutouts for speakers, etc., are well-positioned. All the Pixel 9 Pro screen protectors from my test are compatible with this case since the screen protector isn’t pushed up at the sides. Additionally, this case is the most affordable in our test.
Unfortunately, it’s not a hard case but just thick rubber as material. There’s also no inner lining like the next case, meaning a grain of sand could scratch the back of the phone if it gets between the case and the Pixel 9 Pro unnoticed.
Price: $15.99
Pros:
- Rough material, not slippery
- Display protection
- Camera protection
- Buttons with good feedback
- Cutouts are well placed
- Compatible with all Pixel 9 Pro XL screen protectors from my test
- Cheap
Cons:
- Not a hard case
- No inner protection
Conclusion – Who is this case for?
If you don’t need special protection and low price, this is a good choice.
