You asked for Mous again and again in the comments, so it was part of my big iPhone 18 Pro case test. It left me with mixed feelings. On protection it’s one of the best, but on price and first impression it’s one of the weakest.
Unboxing: The Case Is Warped
I unbox every case live on camera so you see my real reaction. With the Mous, the first surprise was an unpleasant one. The case had a clear bend and didn’t lie flat on the table. I can’t say whether every unit is like that or just mine, but at this price it shouldn’t happen. There are no accessories in the box.
Real Leather with a Grandma Vibe
The back is real leather, and you can smell it right away. The surface is heavily grained, though, and to me it looks like my grandma’s old handbag. I don’t mean that as a compliment, but it’s purely a matter of taste. If you like the look, you get a grippy, slightly textured surface that doesn’t slip. There are several colors, including a carbon-look version.
Weight and Thickness
The Mous weighs 52 grams. Next to a 34-gram case like Apple’s TechWoven, you clearly feel the difference. The corners are reinforced and thicker to absorb drops. Overall the Mous is quite a chunky case in the hand.
Protection
This is where the Mous shines. It’s a true hard shell with reinforced corners. The camera lenses sit deep inside, so a drop onto the back is no problem. The screen lip stands well proud, and a screen protector fits underneath without issues. You’ll find the ones that work in my comparison of iPhone 18 Pro screen protectors.
There’s an inner lining too. It isn’t as fluffy as the microfiber in the Apple or ROXX cases, though. It’s a slightly different, firmer material.
Buttons and Camera Control
The cutouts are well placed, and nothing is covered. The buttons have an Apple-level click. There’s a protective film on the Camera Control that you peel off first. After that everything works: single press, double press, light press and swipe. No complaints here.
MagSafe: 1.51 kg
MagSafe charging works. In the pull test the Mous reached 1.51 kg, just behind the ROXX NextEra at 1.59 kg and well above the 1 kg mark. You can use the iPhone in a MagSafe car mount without worries, even on cobblestones.
Verdict
The Mous protects very well and has real leather and a strong magnet. On the other side are the high price, the bulk, the weight and my warped unit. At about $82 I expected more. In my final ranking it was cut on feel, because it’s simply too thick for me. The case that won instead is in my iPhone 18 Pro case test.
