I tested ten cases and six screen protectors for the iPhone 18 Pro. Together that’s almost two hours of video, and let’s be honest, nobody watches all of it. So here’s the short version: the combinations I actually use myself.
And there are two of them, not one. The reason is simple. A case is like a suit. There’s the one you wear every day, which has to be comfortable, look good and still work properly. And then there’s the situation where all you want is maximum protection: holidays, hiking, cycling, running. Anywhere the phone hits the ground when you’re not ready for it. One single case can’t do both equally well, so I use two.
The screen protector is the same in both combos

There was only one clear winner in the glass test, which is why it goes into both combinations: the ROXX Japanese glass, currently around 33 dollars for a three-pack.
Two things decided it. First, the size. It’s the largest protector you can get for the 18 Pro and the 18 Pro Max, it runs right into the corners and it has a black frame. Once it’s on, you simply can’t tell there’s a screen protector on the display at all. Second, the bend test. I scratched all six protectors and then bent them. Three broke immediately. The ROXX glass didn’t.
The ESR protector was originally on the shortlist but dropped out. Too many people in the comments under the test video reported the same air gap along the edge that I ran into. That doesn’t look like a one-off bad unit, so I can’t recommend it in good conscience.

Combo 1: the tailored suit for every day
The case here is the ROXX NextEra at around 31 dollars. What makes it special is obvious the moment you hold it: it uses the same material Apple puts on the case that ships with the AirPods Max. It feels premium, it has real grip and it barely picks up fingerprints.
The buttons are metal with a clean click. Camera Control works completely too, light press and then swipe, with no lag. That used to be a weak point on this brand’s older cases. It isn’t any more.
More important is what you don’t see. The case is a hard shell with a camera lip the lenses don’t protrude past, and a screen lip that sits one to two millimetres above the applied screen protector. In practice that means if the iPhone lands face down, neither the glass nor the camera touches the ground.

On the 18 Pro, the inner lining is not a detail
Something a lot of people underestimate: the NextEra has a microfibre lining inside. It sounds like a nice extra, but on the 18 Pro it’s the single most important thing about the case.
During my scratch test on the black 18 Pro I saw how quickly the back picks up marks. A box cutter was enough. Without a lining, the bare inside of the case sits directly against that back panel. One grain of sand working its way in there gets dragged across the glass with every movement. You’ll find out what that costs when you go to sell the phone. On the black model it shows up far more than on the lighter colours, too.

Combo 2: the insurance policy for travel and sport
Its trick is in the corners. There are small air cushions there that you can push in with a finger. They absorb the impact exactly where a phone lands first in a fall. It does make the case thicker, but for hiking, cycling or a week away I genuinely don’t care. I’ve got the other combo for the slim look.
The second feature is the fold-out stand. It sounds like a gimmick, and then you take a flight: stand the iPhone up, done, no wrestling with the tray table.
And here’s the real reason this case is in the protection combo. The screen lip finishes perfectly flush with the applied protector. There’s no edge for sand or grit to work its way under. Anyone who has taken a phone to the beach knows why that matters.
What the Torras is missing

Let’s stay honest: the Torras has no inner lining. On a case explicitly built for rough situations, that’s the one thing the manufacturer still needs to add. The screen lip is also slightly lower than on the NextEra. It’s there, but there’s less of it.
MagSafe works reliably on both cases. I measured the holding force with a force gauge: the NextEra pulls 1.59 kilograms, the Torras 1.22 kilograms. Anything above one kilogram is perfectly fine in daily use.
Verdict
Two combinations, one screen protector. For every day: ROXX NextEra plus the ROXX Japanese glass, thin, premium, lined and holding the phone tightly. For travel and sport: Torras Ostand Q3 Air plus the same glass, thicker, with cushioned corners, a flush screen lip and a stand.
If you only want one of them, take the first. If you’re out and about a lot, add the second. The screen protector is a decision you only have to make once.
