ROXX Japanese Glass Screen Protector for iPhone 18 Pro Review – The Most Scratch-Resistant in the Test

ROXX claims its Japanese glass is harder, more scratch-resistant and clearer. In my comparison of six screen protectors for the iPhone 18 Pro, I wanted to find out whether that’s just marketing. I tested each one with a box cutter and a porcelain tile, then bent them. The result: the ROXX is my test winner.

What’s in the Box and Price

The box contains three screen protectors, an alignment tray, wet and dry cleaning wipes and dust stickers. The set costs about $33, which works out to about $11 per protector. For comparison, the Belkin from the Apple Store costs about $44 for a single one.

Installation

Installation uses an alignment tray. The glass sits at the top, you drop the iPhone in from above and pull out the tab. One tip: don’t press too hard, or the tab can tear off and ruin the protector. Resting your hand on it lightly is enough. There’s a QR code on the packaging for instructions. I ended up with a few small bubbles and two specks of dust. That was my fault, because I didn’t clean the display thoroughly with the wet wipe for the video. It helps to turn the display off first, so you can see the dust better.

Fit and Look

The protector is large and reaches cleanly into the corners. A black frame hides the edge, so you can’t tell a screen protector is on. Face ID worked instantly. Every case from my test of iPhone 18 Pro cases fits over it, and none of them pushes the glass up. The „clearer“ claim holds up too, since the image looks sharper through the Japanese glass than through regular tempered glass.

The Hardness Test

The brand-new box cutter left no marks at all, but every protector in the test managed that. The tile is where it gets interesting. Porcelain tile has a Mohs hardness of 8, and I’ve scratched sapphire glass with it before, so no screen protector survives this test completely.

The ROXX did pick up scratches, but far fewer and much fainter ones than its direct rival, Torras. You really have to look closely, and you can only just feel them with a fingernail. On every other protector the scratches were obvious as soon as light hit them.

The Bend Test

Finally, I peeled off every scratched protector and bent it. The Belkin, Torras and Spigen broke instantly, right along the scratches. The ROXX bent and stayed in one piece. That shows the glass isn’t just harder but also tougher. Apart from the ROXX, only the ESR with Corning glass survived the bend test.

Weaknesses

There isn’t much. The tray’s tab is delicate if you press too hard. And the Japanese glass isn’t scratch-proof either, since a tile still leaves faint marks. At that hardness level, though, nothing else is physically possible.

Verdict

The ROXX Japanese glass screen protector had the fewest scratches in the tile test and held up when bent. It also has a black frame, easy installation and three protectors for about $33. For me it’s the best screen protector for the iPhone 18 Pro. You’ll find all six protectors in my full iPhone 18 Pro screen protector test.
